Proper tire rotation helps to extend the life of your tires. Consistent rotations allow tire experts to inspect the tires for adverse conditions that can negatively impact their lifespan. Catching these conditions early can minimize their damage to the tire.

Tire Repair

Ramona associates follow the guidelines provided by the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) for effective, safe tire repairs. These guidelines stipulate how tire seals and plug-fills must be done.

Wheel Balancing

To extend the life of your tires, it’s important to have your wheels balanced. Unbalanced wheels wear down your tires.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Also known as TPMS, this system measures the air pressure or rotational speed of your tires to determine whether they have the proper amount of air pressure. Since most tire failures occur due to under inflation, it is important to make sure this system is working properly.

First time at this new location near Costco Marketplace, Tucson. I asked to expedite oil change service in order to accommodate another appointment within the hour. They did everything to get me in and out quickly. Thoroughly inspected vehicle and found several additional recommended services from which we prioritized service and follow-up. I did not feel pressured and felt there was a strong customer care ethic in place. Clean and comfortable waiting room. I even think my car came back to me cleaner than when I left it. Very satisfied with service and would return and recommend to others.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tires will wear unevenly on nearly all vehicles over time. To extend the life of your tires and balance the inevitable wear on them, have your tires rotated regularly. Tire rotation spreads the load more evenly across all four tires and supports more balanced handling. It’s a safety issue, too—tires that are overly worn in one spot may make your car or truck more difficult to control in wet or other adverse conditions.

In general, tires should be rotated every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. You should come in for tire rotation sooner, however, if you notice any patterns of excessive wear on any of your tires. Adhering to a schedule of regular rotation can improve your vehicle’s performance, make your tires last longer, and help ensure that all of your tires wear evenly.

When the weight of a tire/wheel assembly isn’t even around the tire, you may notice vibration or bouncing, which can shorten the life of your tread and put undue stress on your car or truck. In general, tire balancing should be done when you buy new tires or have a tire replaced.

You should check your tire pressure every month, including your spare tire. Even if your tires are in good condition, they can lose at least some pressure every month. If you have valve leaks or punctures, they will leak even more.

For the most accurate reading, check your tires when your vehicle has been sitting for about three hours. And always check your tires and spare before taking any long trips.

Purchase a high-quality tire pressure gauge and avoid using the pressure gauges that are offered in gas stations since they’re not always reliable. The tire technicians at Ramona Tire can check the accuracy of your tire gauge for you.

If you have a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) on your vehicle, you still need to manually check your pressure once a month, before you take a long trip, or if you notice any problems with your tires. Your TPMS is designed to let you know when it detects under-inflation at a preset level, but extra wear on your tires and poor fuel efficiency can occur well before your TPMS alerts you. If you do see an alert from your TPMS, you shouldn’t continue to drive more than 50 miles before having your tires checked or exceed speeds of 50 mph. Book an appointment with Ramona Tire as soon as possible.

You can check your owner’s manual or look for the sticker on the driver’s side door. If you buy new tires from Ramona Tire, our technicians can tell you the pressure you should maintain.

Once tire tread is worn down to 2/32 of an inch, it’s time to buy tires. A lot of tires have bars in the tread that indicate when the tire is so worn that it should be replaced. Regardless of what type of tires you have, you can easily check the tread depth yourself: Put a penny in the tread with Lincoln’s head upside down; if the top of Lincoln’s head can be seen, the tire is too worn to continue driving on.

We do! You can save money with great tire deals at Ramona Tire in several ways. Here’s how:

  • If you find a local competitor who has a better advertised price on tires than Ramona Tire, just let us know and we’ll beat it.
  • We have money-saving tire coupons—either show them on your phone or print out your coupons and bring them in for your discount. Check back often, since coupons are frequently updated.
  • Because we have relationships with manufacturers such as Firestone, Goodyear, Kelly, Dunlop, Bridgestone and others, we can save you money with special rebates and promotions.

Whether you should replace all of your tires when one is worn out depends on what condition your other three tires are in. If those look good, you may be able to have just the one bad tire replaced. There are exceptions, though, for some vehicles—some manufacturers recommend that you always replace all four tires to avoid problems with AWD systems and antilock brakes. When you come into Ramona Tire for new tire installation, our tire technicians will inspect all of your tires and let you know if they recommend replacing all of your tires to ensure safety and the best performance.

Tires are one of those purchases most people don’t make very often, and the need for new tires may arise suddenly. Add in the wide range of options available today, and it’s easy to be unsure about which tires to buy.

In most cases, you should go with the kind of tires your vehicle’s manufacturer recommends. There are other things to consider, however, such as your driving habits, your budget, and what kind of performance you’re looking for. If you have questions about the new tires that are best for your vehicle, your budget, and the way you drive, our technicians can help with your decision.

You don’t have to invest a lot of time in doing what you can to extend the life of your tires. Stay on top of these tasks and follow these recommendation to help your tires last longer:

  • Maintain proper tire pressure—This is the best way to get more life from your tires. Check your pressure at least once a month or more often if you regularly put excessive mileage on your car.
  • Have your tires rotated—Balance the wear on your tires with regular tire rotation. Check your vehicle’s owner manual for the schedule recommended for your car or truck.
  • Inspect your tires—The earlier you notice problems such as punctures, gouges, or objects embedded in your tread, the better the chances your tire can be repaired instead of replaced. Take a close look at your tires every few weeks.
  • Avoid road hazards—It’s not always possible to steer clear of potholes or uneven pavement, but if you can, you may avoid some of the alignment problems road hazards can cause.

There are several signs that may indicate you need tire alignment:

  • Steering or handling feels different
  • Your car pulls to one side when you’re on a straight road
  • After a turn, the steering wheel doesn’t easily return to its normal position
  • The steering wheel stays at an angle when you’re on a straight road

We recommend that you come in to have your alignment checked if you’ve hit a large object or notice extra wear on the outer edges of your tires. A check about every 4,200 miles is recommended as well to minimize tire wear, and improve your tires’ and your vehicle’s performance. If it’s time for your tires to be aligned, book an appointment at your nearest Ramona Tire location.
